Seven people were injured when a US Air Force F-18 fighter crashed in California while the pilot was still missing.

The Associated Press quoted officials as saying that an F-18 Super Hornet crashed yesterday in the Valley of Death Park, injuring seven people who were in the area.

The pilot was on a routine training mission and is currently being sought, said spokeswoman Lydia Bok.

A US military official said yesterday that the plane crashed without giving further details on the reasons, while the US Department of Defense declined to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
