The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Abbas Moussaoui, said that the purpose of holding meetings and talks with some members of the US Congress is to calm the situation and prevent the effects of pressure exerted by the extreme right, such as “Team B” and not negotiate.

Mousavi said in a statement today that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with American Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein, adding that there have been meetings and talks over the past two decades between Iranian officials and some non-governmental US politicians in order to clarify Iran’s positions.

Moussaoui pointed out that these are not government officials, and they have no choice and authority to conduct negotiations with Iran, stressing that Iran does not negotiate with them.
