Venezuela today expressed its rejection of coercive measures and new arbitrary sanctions announced by the US administration aimed at paralyzing the movement of the country and obstructing the development process in the public and private sectors.
“These sanctions constitute a direct attack on the Venezuelan people’s money,” the television station reported. “This proves that these sanctions, which violate the principles of the United Nations Charter, will not break the will of the Venezuelan people.
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will continue to be able to defend its independence and political, economic and cultural sovereignty. The United States continues its hypocrisy by claiming to help the Venezuelan people by using humanitarian aid as a pretext to intervene in Venezuelan affairs while targeting the resources of the Venezuelan people,” the statement said.
Trump had earlier threatened to impose sanctions on Venezuela’s financial sector, sanctions that would affect more than 23 million people and affect public and private companies in Venezuela.
