Will Ron Paul supporters abstain if he doesn’t win primaries?

What happens when you get hundreds of very excited young people gathered on a college campus? It’s a party, and that’s what happened last night when supporters of Ron Paul gathered at the University of Maryland to rally behind their choice for president. One of the supporters, Trey Stinnett of RonPaulSwag.com joins RT’s Liz Wahl to explain.

NO NO you can't stay home!! We NEED Ron Paul in office. Vote for the man, not the party.

I thought about writing him in, but perhaps the better solution would be to vote for Obama. That way if Obama wins, the Republican establishment and millions of uneducated republican voters will only have themselves to blame because they refused to take advantage of the trump card they had called, "Ron Paul"

1. Perhaps you should familierize yourself with how tax collections as % of GDP are the lowest in 60 years. The focus on "spending" is propoganda.

2. With the many examples in history of regulation leading to conservation & less polution, you really don't have an argument here

There's a reason why "competition laws" exist in every industrialized country.

3. Again, how policies were structured in the past is completely irrelevant.

4. Yes market forces do corrupt government, what's your point?

“1. Perhaps you should familierize yourself with how tax collections as % of GDP are the lowest in 60 years. The focus on "spending" is propoganda.”

I am… and while it is at it’s lowest since the onset of WWII, tax collections as % of GDP are not the issue. The national debt, which has an average growth rate of $4 billion per day, and directly related to the deficit between budget and spending, is the issue, and not at all propaganda.

You continue to distract the argument. There would still be regulations for conservation and less pollution without a DOE.

“3. Again, how policies were structured in the past is completely irrelevant.”

After our lengthy exchange; and you insist that government spending is propaganda, wonder what my point is regarding government corruption as it pertains to the market, continually defend the DOE by defending regulation arbitrarily, and assert that the structure of past policies is irrelevant… I can see that it is pointless to continue this exchange, as the comment section of youtube is not the place.

I have enjoyed the exchange, good day.

do what you will, but the republican party is going to fail to win the election on their own should ron paul not get the nomination. mitt has no ammo against obama, especially since he can claim he turned the economy around, got OBL and even got our dependence on foreign oil at an all-time low, so he can say "we don't need a republican presidency because you got me! check my record!". what's the GOP gonna do? those are the issues they're running on! but we'll see after the delegate process…

1. Ignoring the fact that tax cuts are the main contribution to the current deficit and instead blaiming a department that's been around since the 70's is not logical.

2. I'm not defending everything the DOE does. Every organization has issues. However to say we should disolve a department because policies were structured differently in the past is not logical. It's an attempt to justify a conclusion.

It says *nothing* on how effective policies were implemented or how well money was spent.

I voted for Ron Paul in the Tennessee Primary in 2008 and 2012 but the elections have been rigged since the 2000 election. I have voted in every "Presidential ERECTION" since 1980 when I was too young to vote. However, without Ron Paul, there is no one worth voting for. Voting for the "Lessor of two Evils" is still voting for Evil and I refuse to do that! If the govornment is going to screw me without a kiss, I'm not gay enough to ask for it!

I don't believe that the election is rigged. I think that at this point in time that the GOP primary voter is composed of a majority of neocons who want the United States to be an Empire, who favor the war on drugs, who oppose same sex marriages and who believe that the war on terror justify things like the NDAA . Dr. Paul, unfortunately was always an underdog whose campaign was primarily about building a movement.

Tax cuts grow the economy which actually results in the increase in government revenues whereas tax increases slows the economy–reducing revenues. Read Jude Wanniski's The Way The World Works if you want to see how tax hikes have never been a friend of economic growth.

Sorry, I'm not going to read a book for tax and growth data that is easily found on the internet.

There is no correlation between tax cuts and economic growth…PERIOD. Anyone making such a claim is lying.

We had 90% upper income tax rates for decades during this country's biggest expansion. There was NO discernable job growth with the Bush Tax Cuts. The defict exists because tax collections as a % of GDP are the lowest in 60 YEARS.

Tax cuts do not magically grow the economy. Demand does.

sleedolfine15

If you're alergic to enlightenment I can't help it. Zimbabwe has a lot of demand, but no money. Effective economic demand comes from desire combined with the resources to acquire one's desire. Tax cuts supple the wherewithal. No one actually paid 90% because of tax shelters. Common sense ought to tell you that a real 90% tax rate would kill incentives. Why would anyone do anything for only a dime out of every dollar earned? See Harding,Kennedy & Reagan for lying claims of tax cuts.

oolong2
Guest

1. If people have no means then there isn't "demand" now is there?

2. Once Again…. Tax collections as a % of GDP are the lowest in 60 YEARS. Regardless of how many paid 90% or not.

3. Many didn't pay 90% because they reinvested profits back into the business instead of taking it out as bonuses.

4. Jeez.. this is about FACTS not "common sense". This is how politicians manipulate your ass, they use dumb simplistic slogans that "make sense" without backing up a single belief with REAL DATA.

sleedolfine15

I said "effective economic demand"and you can't have that merely by wanting–only by wanting with means. Tax shelters is what kept the actual tax below 90% and whenever the rate is lowered those shelters are emptied and the monies are put into productive investments. So called "facts" that defy "common sense" are probably not facts afterall. People do not work for nothing, hence if the tax punishes it effects behavior. Taxes may have fallen for the poor & middle, but not for the investment class.

oolong2
Guest

1. Any other demand other than "economic demand" doesn't make sense in the context of the discussion.

Decreasing poverty & supporting a middle class increases economic demand.

2. Do you not understand percentages? I'll repeat it again. Tax collections as a % of GDP are the LOWEST IN 60 YEARS

Whether people got around the 90% or not is irrelevant.

Again, higher upper income tax rates creates an incentive for people to keep money invested IN THE BUSINESSES as opposed to taking out bonuses.

If Ron Paul does not win the republican nomination, and the winner convinces RP to be his running mate, you won't support him?

grinmaster2002

If he doesnt get in then the people need to either find a way to remove there government in a vote of no confidence, OR simply stop paying taxes to a corrupt institution..

I used to support Ron Paul until I found racist remarks from him about Black People and how he said the 1964 Civil Rights Movement was "unconstitutional" and attacked people's "liberties". I don't know who I will vote for in the future!!!!

Ron Paul cured my apathy for politics and he showed me that there really are genuine politicians. If he doesn't run as a third party, I doubt I will vote. He really opened my eyes, but to vote for anyone else seems kinna like a slap in the face for everything Ron beleived in. I refuse to vote for someone that doesn't obey the Constitution. Its not apathy, I just refuse to vote for the lesser of the two evils. They will not get my vote.

no such racist remarks from him. What does the act do? Do you even know? A government doesn't tell it's people what race to hire or not…now it's anti white man all over the place…don't fall for stupid shit bro…that is by design…we're all slaves and color is nothing to the issue of humanity…lets get white now? fuk that my parents were from Poland why should black man get extra crap from govt? Civil rights act is just BS anyways.

Russia today is owned and run by the Russian Govt. It is a propaganda machine. Tell every one. If you do not trust American media, how can you trust a media company owned and run by an oppressive govt?

No it isnt lol stop Butt Hurting so much. Oppressive Govt ? Have you got a passport and when was your last personal trip to Russia, thanks. If you dont reply your basically full of shit.

nikolaib

They weren't written by him, this is easily proven by the fact that his entire public life has been for the ending of collectivism. There is no black or white, there is only the human person. Several parts of the civil rights act were unconstitutional. It forces people to use their property in a way that the government sees fit. If someone wants to exclude a certain race of people from their business, they have the constitutional right to do so, however idiotic that may be.
