USS Gerald Ford – A $13 Billion Boondoggle

The US Navy’s newest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald Ford, is so over-budget and riddled with errors that it’s practically useless. Never is it asked whether we need such a ship for the defense of this country. It is about spending and maintaining steady growth in the defense industry. Our own safety and security are completely irrelevant to the military spending juggernaut. And it’s not just this carrier…

The Ford class will never be able to meet it's requirements. Too many changes without proper testing.

13 billion that the government borrowed from the federal reserve, which means you and I are stuck with the bill.

There is only one ship in the US Navy that has actually seen combat. It is the USS Constitution. The old ironside?!

I Reported on this last year. Pile of junk that cant take what it was built for. in a nutshell = USA spends trillions building out of date junk, RUSSIA/CHINA, spend 1/10th and build 5th generation systems that USA will NEVER be able to catch up to and are with 85% of the new CURRENT equipment, DEFENSELESS! YOUR ENTIRE NAVY ARE FLOATING COFFINS THAT CAN ALL BE SUNK WITH EITHER RUSSIAN OR CHINESE MISSILES OR SLEEPER TORPEDOES THAT COST LESS THAN $1 MILLION EACH. FACT!

President Gerald Ford wasn't working very well either. Chevy Chase.

Could it be that the whole point to the US military budget is that money spent on the military can't be spent on domestic projects? Members of congress who vote for military spending – whether enthusiastically or reluctantly — are knowingly stabbing the US public in the back?

Carriers have been obsolete for last 30 years. Funny they're building more.

Daniel, the Marines don't fly the A-10, that's exclusively an Air Force aircraft. But, your point is valid – don't replace tried, affordable, and effective equipment and replace it with expensive, untested, unneeded technology.

How many times do I have to point this out? The USS Gerald Ford is a smashing SUCCESS!!! Probably not as big of a success as the F-35 fighter program, but a HUGE success nonetheless. The folks at the Pentagon were overjoyed to hear that this floating boondoggle of a "fightin' ship" had to be called back from sea. These weapons systems are DELIBERATELY designed to fail. Cost over runs=Maximum PROFITS. Profiteering. THAT is the Main Objective of the F-35 and the USS Gerald Ford. Failures and defects are built into the cake when it comes to spending taxpayer money… Read more »

US military is fighting ww2 and spends all that crazy money just to keep tribespeople and 3rd world countries in line.

World war 3 is already underway . Like ww1 was fought differently to ww2 . Economic warfare , propaganda and cyber attack are used instead of conventional forces.

Gather all these ships in one very vulnerable place and have a potential enemy sink them, viola you have a great pretext for war

Such revealing stuff. Thank you, Dr. Paul!!

RUSKIES got smaller Missiles that can sink any US ARMY ship, and they cost from only 500K$ to 3 million$ depending on range and power, speed etc… they can fire 50 of those missiles and sink a 13 billion$ if 10 out of 50 missiles hit the target. Why spend so much money like this?

Wont matter soon, once the next crisis hits the US weapons industry will be closed

The aircraft carrier, especially ones fitted with f-35's, are assets we literally cannot afford to lose in a war, which makes it a foolish expenditure.

Soooo… IF the MIC is owned by the Elites, and the MIC is spending money on outrageously expensive and ineffective weapons, does that mean the Elites are setting the US for failure in the next war? Given the MSM is owned by the Elites and the Deep State is selected and groomed by the Elites and they frequently lobby for war, are the Elites planning on destroying the US by a war? Who has repeatedly attempted to scale back conflicts and bring our troops home? Trump. No wonder the Elites don't like Trump.

Good to know Ron Paul thinks us maintaining our supremacy in force projection is a "boondoggle".

"This boondoggle has been floating around for awhile…" Very funny. How many aircraft carriers do our main enemies have? The chinese have one that they bought from the Russians. We have a dozen and the Pentagon has agreed to buy two more beyond the USS Fraud. Madness.

I bet the electronic systems where done in China.
