Syria Ceasefire: More War Or Chance For Peace?

Yesterday’s announcement of a ceasefire agreement in Syria raised hope that the five year war may finally be coming to a close. But with Syrian government forces poised to retake areas long-controlled by ISIS and al-Qaeda, does either side have much incentive to abandon the fight?

I think it's crazy how many of our tax money is squandered building bombs and missles designed to murder innocent people in the name of nation building. We the People should be ashamed of ourselves for allowing this behavior to continue unchecked. I for one, hate the fact that we are over there dropping bombs onSyria. Haven't we learned our lesson from Iraq? Ron, you are correct. America is a total failure in that respect. We suck at so called "nation building", and if you suck at something, you should probably knock it off. The People who control the government… Read more »

so why don't you people in Congress do something about our out of control military spending instead of just talking about it. For one, vote Trump in and build that fucking wall, quick. We need it because everyone hates us now. TRUMP 2016!

My question is what the hell did the US bring to the table to convince Russia to give them such an "equal" role in this cease fire agreement? It appeared to me they didn't have much to bring to the table, overtly anyway. Must have been some concessions given to Putin that exceeded his benefits for just continuing to allow him and Assad to finish this war. Perhaps they agreed to allow Putin to pick a new leader for Syria. Seems significant that Putin, not Assad was the one to announce this cease fire as well as the mention of… Read more »

Amazing, that your government has spent your (taxpayer) money and your country is almost bankruptcy. It seems that your leaders will make maximum losses , prior to the war, which is inevitable.

The ceasefire is a setup so NATO can show some legitimacy to invade when it fails. Which it doesn't have because NATO will never be invited by Syria. NATO should pull their head in before we are all dust.
