Supremes Miss The Point On “Bake The Cake” Ruling

The US Supreme Court ruled more or less in favor of the Masterpiece Cake Shop’s owner refusing to bake wedding cakes for same-sex couples on religious grounds. While conservatives may view this as a victory, in fact the ruling may end up hurting conservatives and libertarians more than helping them.

…property rights and freedom of association (especially in that one does not have to work for anyone that they don't want to).

I have met Dr Paul, first of all I think he made fantastic points. I agree with everything he said. Perhaps most importantly, I am so happy to see that he is still perfectly sharp mentally just as good as he was 20 years ago! God bless you Dr. Paul and keep up the good work.

All these privileged oppressed groups are used by the court/lawmakers to change your free speech and property rights into hate speech without rights and into crimes. The gay couple could have just gone to a different bakery but chose to sue because they hate free speech and anyone that tries to exercise it. Now that is a hate crime.

"You have the right to be an idiot, but you don't have the right to force your idiocy on others." "We don't have rights because we belong to a group, we have rights because we're individuals." This video is a gold mine of quotes. Ron Paul, what a sharp mind.

The Supreme Court is nothing more than one of the three branches of the general, (federal), government. Every time they decide in favor of their sister agencies, they are actually just giving themselves more and more powers that are not afforded to them in the constitution. The supreme court is in continual violation of the constitution. Legislation from the bench is not allowed. The states are not bound by any of their so called "rulings".Furthermore, courts do not make "Rulings", Kings make rulings. Courts, supreme or otherwise, issue findings, and give opinions. ONLY. It may seem to be a petty misnomer,… Read more »

"I’d like to make a point here. The government of the United States has never violated anyone’s constitutional rights. Did you know that? The government of the United States will never violate anyone constitutional rights, because it cannot violate anyone’s constitutional rights. The reason for that is: The government of the United States is that set of actions by public officials that are consistent with the Constitution. Outside of its constitutional powers, the government of the United States has no legitimacy. It has no authority; and, it really even has no existence. It is what lawyers call a legal fiction.… Read more »

If we can't discriminate, we are not free people. No group should be protected. These cases will forever fill up the court system with petty nonsense .

Good report . The baker was targeted by the gay community, the sought to teach the baker a lesson. I'd say the gays won, not what they wanted, but the baker is out of business.

The Supreme Court should have heard the case against FATCA, which discriminates against people who had a foreign bank account either because they live overseas, or like myself, are foreign citizens who were living in the U.S. It is now six years my account has been closed and I have had no access to my funds. FATCA caused real damage to millions of individuals, and it it ridiculous that they would choose to arbitrate on a trivial case such as this instead of restoring justice to FATCA victims.

Dr. Paul is 100% correct on multiple points. Yes, religious liberty should be supported, but why only religious liberty? This should have been about property rights, not religion, gay marriage or anything else. Private discrimination by individuals is often self-defeating in the market and certainly nowhere near a big enough issue to even attempt to justify voiding all true property rights. Modern discrimination laws make it impossible to truly own your property as it makes it so government ultimately controls what you do with your property. Btw, a false allegation of discrimination will be a much worse hardship for the… Read more »

If there is an easily accessible alternative (bakery), the customer should not be able to oblige this one.
Odd groups such as gays should have their facilities. A gay couple cannot ride on a whole society established in religion.

Hurray for the baker! On his property he has every right in the world to be whatever he wants to be. And so do all of us. Get the damn government off of our backs.

The Bakers refused to comply with the requirements of their business licence to serve the public, has nothing to with discrimination. Grandstanding by the government lost their case..

The point is that in a supposedly free market, any shop should have the right to refuse service without any reason given. A second point is that when any society deems sexual "rights" superior to religious liberty, they are finished.

States needs a monopoly on violence for society to function, but that dosn't mean we don't have free choice of government, we can choose where to live. In Europe it is common work in a different country to where you live, some even drive though a third country to get there. The central problem is not states themselves, but the particular form of state called empires

Private business and public business are not the same! Today your private business would be dictated to you by the socialist totalitarian. The right to discriminate, on who and why I should do business with, as a private business in no ones business, and especially not the so called authority of the government. This used to be no issue until the conversion of everyone by bogus legislation to force everyone into a corporation and taxation. A private corporation is not private. hello! Private business used never need permission to exist anymore than a living man.

The fact is that most businesses will not discriminate that wish to earn money and be successful. However if I wish to be stupid and discriminate and not do business with people that look cross eyed or what ever that is my right and tough tittie's for those that don't like it as they may still take their business elsewhere.

The idea of having more right on your private property is absurd.. today the ones who should have the loudest voice dont have homes or property? so the poor have no right to voice their opinion simply because they are always on someone else s property.. it is a sad fascist world and everyone who has theirs is in on it. I will always say this,, it is a war between rich and poor not left and right.

Ok so a cake maker gets sued over refusing to make a cake for gays. But Walmart and Dick's Sporting Goods can arbitrarily make it a law that a person must be at least 21yo to buy a gun. There's no State or Fed law that says this so it's open age discrimination, same issue as the cake maker but with different facets of society but the same.

In this video Ron Paul defends the idea of people boycotting a private business if they don't agree with the way that private business conduct itself. Yet in the previous episodes, he constantly criticizes people for boycotting private businesses because they don't agree with their views, and accuse people of being cultural marxists. For example, when people boycotted Walmart, Ron Paul criticized them. Ron Paul also criticized Google for censoring certain content, despite Google simply complying with popular demands out of fear of being boycotted. So once again, R. Paul contradicts himself.

Religious Freedom is irrelevant when the issue is property rights. a business has the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason or for no reason at all! Landlords should have absolute control over whom they rent their property to. Employers should be able to hire or not hire at their whim. If they pass on an applicant for arbitrary reasons like race, religion, etc, that is their loss. Likewise, we have no right to force another person to provide goods or services to use.

Great job !! keep spreading the message! Democrats and Republicans both love gun control. Vote Libertarian! Trump played the NRA members who voted him into office as a bunch of fools.  In order to stay relevant the individuals in the NRA leadership need to start worrying about the entire Bill of Rights and not just the Second Amendment.  The NRA leadership needs to stop blindly supporting a law enforcement system that has more prisoners than any other country in the world. Recently Trump was explaining that "we should take the persons guns first and worry about due process later!"  Diane Feinstein was sitting… Read more »

Most Christians and Patriots miss the point on the "Bake the Cake Ruling."

This entire fiasco is the consequence of a cadre of Enlightenment and Masonic theistic rationalists (aka, the constitutional framers and other founding fathers) replacing Biblical responsibilities with Enlightenment rights.
