Sanders’ Foreign Policy – Not Antiwar

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is widely considered the antiwar candidate. While he may be less hawkish than Hillary, his record of opposing war and conflict is spotty at best. His latest proposal? Back the Saudis in the Middle East!

We should just forget about backing any of them over there and take care of problems on our home turf. We need nothing from them. The 1% just wants more $

I agree with him when he says that the countries in the region need to fight ISIS themselves which some are and I don't have much of a problem supporting allies who are fighting them, but I don't think Saudi Arabia is the country we need to support(although I believe we already are). The Saudi's in many ways are worse than the Iranians who many politicians hate soo much and want to attack, people talk about ISIS beheadings all the time, well guess what that shit has been happening for a long time in Saudi Arabia. Still at the end… Read more »

And let us not forget how Bernie Sanders sold out Audit the Fed!

Thank you for finally addressing the Bernie Sanders issue, Dr. Paul!

The reason why Bernie Sanders wants to support Saudi Arabia is because they have the most well funded military in the region and he wants to cut the U.S.'s own military spending so he can spend those savings on social policies. This is also to lower our physical presents in the region so the locals don't realize we are the ones to hate.

What wars is he referring to when he accuses President Obama of having started? Then he states that Americans are blowing things up in the Ukraine and we actually don't have a military presence. Such hyperbole does not help in making his case but diminishes the valid questions that are raised but then the misinformation is blurted out makes his points uncredible. They make reference to Robert Parry (see: https://consortiumnews.com/2015/04/15/did-money-seal-israeli-saudi-alliance/) and take what he states out of context. To end it all his report when he states, "the less we are involved" and the failure of "our empire" are on… Read more »

I wish more people could realize that we are jeopardizing and corrupting our power, prestige, security, liberty and rule of law by blindly following these insidious policies. Bernie Sanders got Iraq right, but like the rest of the US legislature, he's Gung Ho about fighting ISIS thanks in part to the fake beheading videos. Rand Paul is better than any other candidate running today on foreign policy but even he falls for this nonsense. Some weird guy with a British accent and a knife in front of a green screen. I have to wonder now if even the knife is… Read more »

Well, I can't speak for other fans, libertarian or otherwise, but I like Sanders because of his independence, and his consistency. However, it is still very early in the campaign season. Although the Trump and Sanders campaigns have some entertainment value, we don't have to commit to a specific leader, until election year. By then, there will be even more information about their positions and possible inconsistencies, and where they are flat wrong. I don't mind donating to the Sanders campaign for the time being, and looking more closely as election time draws closer. Sanders deserves the crowds & the… Read more »

Bernie Sanders voted against the Iraq War, so he's better than Hillary Clinton on foreign policy.

Sanders foreign policy is like all other jewish foreign policy

Israel 1st, fund civil wars abroad for jewish banking expansion, label muslims terrorist jew killers, and anyone who doesnt agree is anti-semetic…oh and make sure to keep promoting the Israeli jewish people as innocent peaceful child loving charitable humanitarians.

Bernie Sanders said to let Saudi Arabia fight their own war and remove the USA ground troupes from the region. Your twisting of his words and this smear campaign wouldn't happen to have anything to do with your son running for president would it? Your son is bought by corporations Ron Paul. Will you make a video to call out your son on that? Oh, no? I didn't think so.

Bernie's position is that the fight in the Middle East against ISIS is a fight for the Soul of Islam. It is not our fight. That's why he urges Saudi Arabia to get involved. And that does NOT mean he is for war. He isn't.

Strange the RP should oppose Bernie on his spotless war record. Bernie has voted against all these wars whether proposed by Bush or others. Also, voters should know that Bernie has opposed the military funding of Israel and advocates for Palestinian rights and aid (in addition to recognition of Israeli's right to exist).

Bernie Sanders believes in a philosophy that killed over 200 million people. Vote Sanders to speed up the downfall of the West!

At the 00:59 mark: I hope Dr. Paul meant to say that he could work with Bernie Sanders because sometimes Sanders was anti-corporatist, not "anti-corporation".

ron paul is very bad at reading interpersonal social dynamics, which is why he simply cannot follow the mindset and the mental framework of a social democrat like bernie sanders.i suspect that ron paul has aspergers, which is not at all a bad thing and i do like him as a person, i think he is genuine and has integrity. however this may explain his almost ridiculous stance in advocating for a self-centered social justice, which is viewed as an oxymoron by any reasonable social democrat. the libertarian philosophy puts almost no emphasis on value of empathy and social compassion… Read more »

Sanders was pretty critical of the Libya Intervention – but repeated that propagandist line "Gaddafi is a thug and murderer and has got to go" this was repetition of an inaccurate clinton talking point. (Gaddafi was probably less violent than his peers in countries like Saudia Arabia and Egypt. Turns out Libya likely not involved in Lockerbie.

Also Sanders wants to audit the pentagon, and has said he would use diplomacy first and war last.

Ron Paul needs to go on a vacation. He's done his part, it didn't sink in. Why won't this guy give up already?

The thing about Bernie Sanders, what he is saying is true about the corporations, and such. However, I would never vote for him, because of his lack to attack his party that he's running with, and his policies. I respect Ron Paul, because he called the bullshit on both parties. Bernie Sanders NEVER attacks anyone in his party. Why? Because he wants to play that same establishment bullshit game, where he goes "Oh the Republicans are bad, and this and that" Then once they ask him about Hillary who's a fraud, and a liar by the way. He goes "Let's… Read more »

Follow the Money, look up open secrets of all the
candidates Bernie is the best of the field. He refuses corporate money
and Pacs and has for good history of the same. The military industrial
complex does not want him to win.

the middle eastern countires combined have armies total 4.3 million people, ISIS is 35,000

the real reason the US isnt going to attack them is we created them. Who gave syrain rebels weapons? who did mccain go over there to see and give arms to? The US created ISIS

Sanders wants those nations to fight it out themselves and let those habibs kill each other. hes still the best choice for prez

who else? trump? hilarious

ok you two are drunk. Sanders supports the military industrial complex? What?!?! must be why he wants to slash the military budget right?

Rand quit. There are no Libertarian foreign policy types left among the major candidates. Sanders is less bad than the rest who are left and who are more neocon, reflexively nationalistic, and dangerously simplistic (not thinking about recent history and actions and reactions) rhetorically than anything else.

Watching a lot of the old material, supporting a good show, the comment about his position(bernie's) being closer to a neo-conservative actually ignores the purpose of his position which may not be far removed from the libertarian position. It wasn't non-interventionist, but it was letting those countries handle their business, it just so happened that one of those countries is saudi arabia, thats unfortunate, but its very different from the ''go in there and bomb them'' type of foreign policy you here focused on sending more troops and building bases His position is more statist, in that he has to… Read more »

The reason this is a LIE is because AFTER Republicans send us to war – which Sanders votes against, then yes Sanders did vote for us to be funded properly, since we were going already. That is something Paul and Republicans try to twist and confuse people on. Don't believe the lie.

he's completely right on this Sanders is not anti-war yes he may be a progressive but he supported the overthrow of a Assad in Syria this is why I love Tulsi gabbard because unlike Sanders the anti-war element would have gotten Bernie over the top and caused him to be Trump but because he didn't have that in his campaign it was going to fail this is the biggest problem I have with Kamala Harris as well she will say all the right things but when it comes to foreign policy she will be a war hawk this is a… Read more »
